Beatrix Potter: The Picture Letters
If your parents ever tried to teach you the dangers of disobedience by reading The Tale of Peter Rabbit or Squirrel Nutkin before bed, then you’ll absolutely love the Beatrix Potter exhibit at the Morgan Library and Museum. It chronicles Beatrix Potter’s writing career and the illustrated letters she wrote to her four-year-old fans – precursors to the legendary children’s books that became an educational artful phenomenon.
She wrote about the stories of her travels in beautiful cursive script interrupted by little drawings of bridges or animals she saw on the way. You’re able to see some of the first drawings of Peter Rabbit when he was still just an unnamed bunny on an English hillside.
