Pedro Reyes
Pedro Reyes is a Mexican artist who repurposes old metal to create skinny musical instruments from another world – they appear functional but remain stripped down, created out of necessity. Revolvers are turned upside down to become legs for a string instrument in “Imagine (Psaltery),” temporarily placing the viewer in a space where there’s a greater need for music than weapons.
“Imagine” will be showcased in Reyes’ upcoming exhibition at the Lisson Gallery in London. TitledDisarm, it is his first show in the UK after exhibiting in Mexico City, Minneapolis, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
