The Hics: Cold Air
Harmonies from heavy voices rise eerily along to a steady tempo in a groovy combination of folk, electronic and hip-hop. The first single by a new six-piece from South London, “Cold Air” is The Hics’ deliberate synthesis of strong female voices, saxophone, and a beat that’s a mix of jazzy and tribal.
All of the band members are between 18 and 21 years old, but “Cold Air” has more depth and somber emotion than seems impossible for someone before middle-age to even know about. They’re managed by ATC who’s worked with everyone from Radiohead to Nick Cave, and the group will play their first London show of the year on March 20 at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen.
